From the stars back down to Earth: getting a job as a data scientist

In September 2020, my contract as a postdoctoral fellow came to an end. Seven months and 100 applications later, I started working as a data scientist at a start-up in Berlin. Navigating a career change during a pandemic was not easy, but I believe it was a positive choice for my long term happiness and mental health. In this talk, I'll describe the reasons for my career change, the path I took to get there, and share some tips for scientists interested in data-related jobs outside academia.
