Preparing for the "Centennial of the Planetarium" outreach campaign
Björn Voss
LWL-Planetarium Münster
In 2023 to 2025, the modern projection planetarium will celebrate its 100th anniversary - 100 years since the first light of the first star projector, and 100 years since the opening of the world's first planetarium at Deutsches Museum in Munich. The planetariums are planning a worldwide large-scale outreach campaign during this anniversary years, which will be designed to convey the message to the general public: "Planetariums nowadays present 'more than just the constellations', but latest astrophysics research in a modern presentation form." Since this touches on general questions of contemporary outreach in astrophysics, we want to present our preparations of this anniversary, and discuss options for an AG contribution to this planetarium anniversary campaign.
